Sunday Sermon...Is it just me?

Yes, sometimes I feel like a crazy person. I will admit it. I stuff my schedule to the max and sometimes everything and everyone around me suffers. I long for days where I have nothing planned, nothing to mark off the dreaded TO - DO List and can just sit back and relax with my family.

After thinking about all that I realized what a sinful nature I have, to not make God a larger priority in my life. I have made some large strides in the Marriage, Parenting and Bible Reading arenas but an area that I feel like I struggle with is prayer. I am learning every day to give over control that I so desperately want for myself to someone who has all of my plans guided out. However, praying...I'm just feeling like it is the missing link for me.

I'm looking for tips here on this one...so if you have a foolproof method to fitting it in, please let me know the strategy.

I have been trying in the car while I am waiting for my son at school. This is about 20 minutes but sometimes I am easily distracted (does that happen to anyone else)?

So much for my Sunday Sermon. Looks like you ladies will be preaching to this choir!

James 5:13 - Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray. Is anyone happy? He should sing songs of praise.

Tarah, I don't think that it is just you. While I am part of a bible study during the week and I lead AWANA on Wednesdays I always find myself prepping or doing my study the night before or even the day of. While I think we definitely to "be still and know that He is God," it can be a very difficult thing for mothers to do. Right now I am just working on getting up earlier than my kids so that I can get out the door without rushing. However, the bible also says that we are to 'pray without ceasing' which I have come to decide that prayer can be done anytime and anywhere. Also, God knows your heart and even when you don't know what to pray he understands your heart. Praying that you would be encouraged to know that I am praying for you (when I have a few moments). :)

I have a hard time with this as well. I do it while waiting, in the shower or driving, but I too, need to be more faithful in this area.

I have learned that prayer doesn't need to be planned- I talk to God when I'm doing the dishes, fixing dinner- the mundane times in life (BTW- better than talking to yourself LOL) Play praise and worship music when you're cleaning- talk to God like you would a girlfriend on the phone- He always picks up! Good post !

BTW...this was a great post...I didn't mean to make it about me. LOL More prayer less complaining for me.
Miss talking to you. Hope that all is well in your frozen state.

I don't know how I got here tonight... but the first thing that popped into my head was... pray in the shower. Something you do every day, right? It's what got me more "regular' with prayer. HTH
